Who we are: Arte Del Barrio (Arts in the Neighborhood) is a cultural cooperative group of new and well-known local artists that are introducing and instilling their multi-discipline artistic visions in Miami. Through our shows ART is presented in different neighborhoods as a multi disciplinary cultural experience. The group's goal is to involve all ages in the appreciation of mixed-media art, including fine arts, music, theater, film, dance and any other experimental form of art and thereby enhance creativity and the artistic education of the community. The organization showcases Latin American painters, photographers, sculptors, filmmakers, musicians, DJs, and actors who met in Miami Beach in 1997 and one after the other moved to the Design District. Arte Del Barrio is a new art organization who aims to promote an integral vision of the arts through the senses, inviting people of all ages from the community and with all kind of art taste by presenting "Multi-media" programs throughout Wynwood Art District and surrounding neighborhoods. In 2006 with the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and the Board of County Commissioners, the Children Trust and 'Ayuda' as our sponsor we were able to see our dream come true: To see the children and families in low income communities getting educated through the arts. In the process of development and completing projects, artists are learning from their successes as well as impacting the community by implementing the mission of educating through art started in 2005.
The project consist in a series of events on site (Childcare Facility)
within 1 month at each facility that include: Three Educational Art Workshops with the children and with the participation of the instructors to enhance the quality of the Art Education within the facility. Individual projects are to be done during the three workshops and presentations of the project will be shown at the final event. A final interdisciplinary event with the participation of the families, where Arte del Barrio theater actors will perform a show for the families. Arte del barrio musicians will play the role of music instructors, so the children can play some instruments, such as guitars, flutes, drums, claves, maraca and others. At
the end of this final event we will present the resultant art work made
by children to the families. We expect all parents to attend the final
